our family of Bourbons

Our namesake, Evan Williams, founded Kentucky’s first commercial distillery along the banks of the Ohio River in 1783. Today, Evan Williams is the second largest selling Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey in the US and the world, distilled just a few blocks from the site where Evan himself built his distillery. Our Bourbons are made with a time-honored recipe, distilled and then carefully aged for a smooth and rich taste that has been perfected over generations.

Evan Williams is a smooth, easy to drink Bourbon named after Evan Williams who, in 1783, opened Kentucky’s first commercial distillery along the banks of the Ohio River. Many years and barrels later, we’re still producing Bourbon with the same time-honored methods that Evan Williams did years ago.

Today, Evan Williams is the second largest selling Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey in the US and the world, distilled just a few blocks from the site where Evan himself built his distillery.

Evan Williams Black is 86 proof and aged far longer than we are required to by law. That proof and age leads to a Bourbon that we are proud of, made our way, and that is always rich, smooth, and full of character.

We know you have questions so we thought we'd give you some answers. Master Distiller, Craig Beam takes on all your tough questions on Bourbon. Everything from the distilling process to the nutritional information of our brands, Craig tells all.

Does Evan Williams Egg Nog have an expiration date or shelf life?

Evan Williams Egg Nog is a cream-based product, made with real Bourbon. Not only does the Bourbon give it a great flavor, but the Bourbon acts as a natural preservative for the product. Because of this, it lasts longer than milk, but not forever. We recommend that it be consumed within 12 months, if unopened, and once opened, it should definitely be refrigerated and consumed within 6 months to keep its great taste. If you see that your bottle has gone lumpy or the mixture has separated, it is not harmful. However, we would not recommend drinking it.

How long can I keep a bottle of Bourbon under my bar at home before it goes bad? Or will it go bad?

Bourbon's not like milk. It won't go bad, so you can probably keep it around for a long time. Of course, I can't understand why anybody would want to. But if you do, make sure you got the cap on tight so the alcohol won't evaporate. And you should keep the bottle in a cool dark place, too. Of course, my advice would be to invite some friends over... well, you get the point.

How should I store Evan Williams Egg Nog?

Evan Williams Egg Nog should be stored away from direct sunlight and at room temperature. In fact, while you don't have to refrigerate an unopened bottle, we would probably recommend it (it tastes great chilled anyway). As for an opened bottle, you MUST refrigerate an opened bottle.
